Weight! Another Neat Scale Redo!

I found this old, dirty Dayton scale at a garage sale this summer.

My husband started by taking everything apart. He said it was very complicated and he wasn't sure if he'd ever get it back together. (But I knew he would!)

He got rid of all of the paint.

 And did lots of polishing...

He painted it green.

We found water decals on eBay.

There were LOTS of parts that had to be put back together....

He spent hours reassembling it.

I think he did another beautiful job!!

Thanks for your visit!

An Old Washboard for the Laundry Room

I love old washboards and was so happy to find one on our local Craigslist last week.
This one has great graphics and the glass is in perfect condition.  What better place for it than the laundry room.
I made these "Mod podged with Graphics Fairy labels" laundry detergent bottles a couple of years ago  HERE.

I collect scales and was going to redo the one on the end, then decided I kind of like it in here, especially with the rusty pointer.

I filled some blue canning jars with old clothespins, clips and spools of thread.  The chicken wire basket holds dusting and mopping cloths.
Last summer I found this copper washtub.  We use it in here for dirty towels.

Thank goodness I have a modern washer and dryer.  I can't imagine the work that was involved in  doing laundry back in the day!

Thanks for coming by!

Home Goods and Pier 1 Happy

I love shopping at Home Goods and Pier 1.  Last week I was in Home Goods and found this pretty wreath.  I love the springy look of it.

I also found this great big blue vase.  I love the color, love the size and the texture of the jute around the top.

I like that these items add a little interest to the corner behind the couch.

I love these carrots that I found at Pier 1.

Here is a picture of our back patio from this morning.  I'm thinking that a backyard party is out of the question for a bit...
Thanks for your visit!  For those of you able to garden right now, I am officially jealous!

Game Room Updates and Another Scale Redo!

We love our Game Room and the kitchen attached to it.  We have been working on it since we moved in to get it decorated in our style.

My Dad gave us this old Coke machine years ago.  I found this Maid of Honor washtub at a garage sale last summer.  I may leave it here, or may take it outside this summer and fill it with flowers.  I do love the chipped paint and rust (which won't last if it goes outside)...

We decided to change out the glass shades on the pendants.  The old ones were very nice, but way too modern for our taste.  We like how these look.

Here is my husband's latest refurbishment.  It took him weeks to take the hundreds and hundreds of parts apart, paint, have some parts re-brassed and then put everything back together.  As he says with every scale he takes apart, he doesn't think he'll ever get it back together again, but he always does.  :)  We have the glass on order for the base.  Once that comes in, it'll be complete.

Here was the 'before'

And here is the 'during'

I love this bottle capper. We found it this fall at Barb's store Treasures From the Heart in Eugene, Oregon. It got a new coat of paint and an old box of bottle caps from ebay and now we're set. Now we need some bottles to cap!

Thank you so much for your visit and kind comments!
